I was born and raised in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota for college. I left the cold weather for Florida when my husband accepted a job in Orlando in 1998. While there, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling at Rollins College where I trained in both Individual Counseling as well as Marriage and Family Therapy. In addition to my Master’s work, I have received further education in Play Therapy and I am EMDR level 1 & 2 trained.
In the fall of 2010, my husband and I made the decision to move our family from Florida to Madison so that we could be closer to our extended family and enjoy the beauty that only the midwest can offer.
I am a member of national chapters of the following associations: The American Counseling Association, The Association for Play Therapy, The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, and EMDRIA.
For over the past 10 years, I have worked in a variety of mental health settings including providing counseling in client’s homes, private practice, community mental health agencies, a learning & behavior center for developmental disorders and working within school systems.
When working with clients I utilize client-centered therapy with the objective of setting up a safe environment in which clients have an opportunity to achieve their personal counseling goals.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband of over 15 years, reading, knitting or doing yoga with my 2 children.
